I have used amanda on an SGI ONYX and just recently purchased an
SGI Challenge S R5000 I compiled and installed amanda and I am having some
problems backing up that machine (Challenge). I have most of the main
drives on that machine along with a 2GB 4mm DAT drive. I have been able
to back up all of the other SGI machines in my lab to the Challenge. I
cannot backup the Challenge machine itself. I have even tried the ONYX
that I was using to start with and the ONYX gets the same or similar error
from the Challenge. Here is what I get when I try to backup the Challenge
from the Challenge.
FAILURE AND STRANGE DUMP SUMMARY:
distest /p2 lev 0 FAILED [no estimate or historical data]
NOTES:
planner: Adding new disk distest:/p2.
planner: Request to distest timed out.
driver: WARNING: got empty schedule from planner
I have been able to do the amcheck and I get 0 problems, but when I try
to amdump anything I get these errors. I have also noticed that there
are processes still running after I try to backup and it fails, like
amandad, and sendsize. If I try to do another amcheck it fails. If I
kill these processes I can then get a good amcheck.
If anyone has had this problem, or knows a fix for it I would really
appreciate it.
